WHO WE ARE

I am Miran. I’m 34 years old, married to Matthew and mother to our sons, Sam and Max. I am a qualified pharmacist and the eldest daughter of John Spiteri, who founded this Funeral Service back in 2005. I was always fascinated by the fact that my father managed to find a positive side to death and death care. His passion to be of support to families in very difficult moments is contagious, and he was the one who taught me that “funerals aren’t for the dead”. In fact, funeral services have very little to do with the deceased. They’re more about the surviving family members, helping them through their journey of grief and providing them with valuable resources.

In September 2020, a rock-bottom experience in my life pleasantly and unexpectedly developed into a mountaintop experience. The company I had so passionately worked with for the previous 10 years closed its local doors. It was then that I decided to follow my innermost dream – that of being of service to the community and providing a professional service with a female touch in an area where it is so much needed. I am now a certified thanatologist (AIHCP, America), having successfully specialised in Thanatology, which is the study of death and grief, and their effects on people and society.

My goal is to positively reframe death and to be more alert to the fact that life is precious. No one knows for sure how long they will live, and because of my profession, I try to make sure that I live my life every day to the fullest. I want to CELEBRATE LIFE every day!
